Our CAWP team is busy addressing issues onsite at the ongoing roundup in Wyoming. Our trapsite observer just reported that 75 wild horses were captured today bringing the total to 271.

Approaching the trap
Today is the second day we have observed wild horses struggling with barbed wire as they fight for their freedom. Distance from the trap makes illustration difficult. We have enlarged the following photos to show you one band from today.
As the trap draws close a buckskin challenges the barbed wire, throwing her body against it. Her chest a battering ram, her hind foot catches, but she barrels forward in her bid for freedom.
Others follow her lead. A paint stud refuses to leave his mare and colt behind.
After struggling with his need to flee and his need to stay with his colt, pressure from the sound of the chopper causes him to head through the fence. His back foot momentarily catches and he is in flight; his colt standing at the cutting wire unable, or afraid, to cross.
The colt seems to contemplate crossing, hesitates and then pressure from the chopper causes them to run. The stallion in flight, trying to catch the rest of the wild ones; the mares and colt captured.
Our wild horses are continuing to pay with their freedom and suffer injury.
The BLM is flouting the law. Pendley is still calling the shots as BLM fails to manage wild horses transparently and fairly. BLM continues to thumb their nose at the courts that repeatedly warned BLM about abuse in court orders against the agency.
Please take action to demand Congress defund any roundups where the BLM has failed to create open and transparent management planning. Click HERE.
Call the Senate switchboard and ask for your rep. Demand that all actions against wild horses and burros halt until William Perry Pendley leaves the BLM. His tenure was ruled illegal and BLM is still moving an agenda forward for Pendley’s former law clients. Switchboard (202) 224-3121
This brave buckskin will carry the scars for her lifetime. Will her freedom be lost tomorrow?
