I put this short video together yesterday. The images and clips are ones I took from a visit with WHE volunteer Marie Milliman, Darice Massey from Carter Reservoir Mustangs Inc. and the beautiful Carter Mustangs we are speaking for today in court.
Today, we are in court for the Carter Reservoir, Buckhorn, and Coppersmith wild horses.
Wild Horse Education and our partner Carter Reservoir Mustangs, Inc. are asking a federal judge to stop a management path that pushes these herds toward “functional extinction,” especially Carter, an isolated and genetically distinct herd.
We know many of you cannot be in the courtroom with us.
But you are with us—in every exhibit, every declaration, and every line of argument that insists these horses are more than numbers to be reduced.
We would like to invite you into a shared moment of solidarity today.
At any time that feels right for you—whether it’s now, at noon, or tonight when the day finally quiets—please pause for a moment and hold Carter, Buckhorn, and Coppersmith in your thoughts.
Picture them on their home range: foals learning to balance on new legs, mares moving with calm determination, stallions watching the horizon. Remember what we are fighting to protect.
At this moment, you are part of a circle that stretches from the courtroom to the high desert, from every supporter reading this email to every horse whose future hangs in the balance.
That collective intention matters. It sustains our legal team, strengthens our resolve, and reminds decision-makers that the public is watching—and cares deeply about these herds.
