The hour before the chopper began flying at the North Lander Complex roundup in Wyoming.
The summer roundup season traditionally marks an acceleration, not just in removals but for everything. This season can always feel overwhelming as the hearts of advocates break with each day of the helicopter drive trapping season. Turn your heartbreak into action.
The 2025 Appropriations bills will move quickly through Congress to push out of committees and into a floor vote before August recess. (If you have not contacted your representatives, please take some time to learn and make a call HERE).

Scoping comments are due by 4 p.m. (MT) for the draft plan to remove all the horses in Great Divide Basin and Salt Wells Creek. BLM will also reduce the size of the Adobe town HMA. This plan is the Rock Springs Complex “Gather Plan to Remove Excess Wild Horses from Herd Areas Previously Designated as Herd Management Areas.” (Learn more and take action HERE).

DANGER, Take Action! The area of the Blue Wing Complex in NV is experiencing a very dangerous heat event. For the last 3 days temperatures have exceeded 100 degrees. The heat (as high as 107 degrees) will continue until July 14th when it finally breaks.
The roundup starts MONDAY! Please take action. Sign our letter or send your own emails. (Learn more HERE about the heat and about how to take action Click HERE)
At the North Lander roundup in Wyoming, where temperatures have not exceeded the high 80s, there has already been a foal death from capture myopathy. Heat increases the likelihood of this type of death. Deaths from capture stress can be sudden or occur days or even months after the stress event.
The situation at Blue Wing is dire!
Our lawyers have sent BLM a letter of the heat event after it was identified over the long holiday weekend as we are busy battling out on range inequities at Blue Wing in the court. Your voice is needed!

The first week of the North Lander roundup in Wyoming concluded with 823 wild horses captured of the 2,715 targeted for removal.
Five wild horses have died and two foals have been orphaned.
