The Swasey roundup began July 15. The operation targets 800 wild horses in a two phase operation. The helicopter portion of the roundup is phase 1, targeting 600.
Day 1 saw the capture of 150.

Our onsite observer is a trained member of the WHE team in the Comprehensive Animal Welfare Policy (CAWP). WHE is the only organization to ever take BLM to task over abuse at roundups. We continue our work to enforce and improve the policy.
