“In August 2015, approximately 73 wild horses would be gathered from Riddle Mountain HMA, with approximately 48 excess wild horses removed. Approximately 141 wild horses would be gathered from Kiger HMA, with approximately 105 excess wild horses removed.” http://www.blm.gov/or/resources/whb/kiger2015.php

Start date is still not set. Observation at the Riddle, at this time, is being denied. If contract trucks can get to the location with horse trailers and panels there is no reason why the public can not use the same route to gain an observation location.

Please note: The objective is to remove horses at Riddle to achieve a population of 33, Kiger objective is 51. When asked why they do not use fertility control the answer is that the herd is “too small.”

In addition, at this time, the contractor has NOT been chosen. Contracts were to be renewed last fall and have still not been finalized with the humane policy and observation protocol included. We will update you on contracts as we gain information.
