Wild Horse Education

Giving Tuesday, 2025

Giving Tuesday, the single largest giving day of the year, falls on December 2nd this year. The week of Giving Tuesday begins end-of-the-year fundraising critical to continuing our mission.

WHE is deeply devoted to our wild ones. Gaining protections from abuses on and off range is key to our mission. Abuses of power have created planning documents aimed at gutting herds all across the West and keeping herds from reproducing so they never recover.

From documentation at roundup and on range, through tracking our wild ones inside the broken system, to expanding lawsuits to cover as many herds as possible while we continue to seek reforms…. WHE is there.

Our precedent setting lawsuits, built on first-hand experiences and deep research, have opened the door to roundups and data, began the path to gain enforceable welfare rules and have cracked the on range charade that “roundups are management.” From setting the wheels in motion to gain an enforceable welfare policy, changing the closed-door policy on roundups to breaking down barriers to gain real management plans for our wild ones, our litigation is a vital tool of today’s advocacy.

Everything we do is only possible because of you, our supporters.

We are deeply grateful.

Giving Tuesday 2025

To participate this year it is pretty simple: Every dollar we can raise is matched. Two generous angels have made it possible for WHE to have a $20,000. match challenge this Giving Tuesday. We are deeply grateful!

Every dollar donated through December 3rd will double our impact!

Meeting this fundraising goal is vital to help keep WHE running for our wild ones through the year and into 2026! WHE is in it for the long haul. WHE is working hard to gain deep reform of the severely broken program that has maligned our wild horses and burros for decades.

Justice. Mercy. Freedom.

Right now we, together, are defending our wild ones from threats throughout the West.
  • We are fighting in court this week to save the last of the Devil’s Garden wild horses and get captives returned to the range.
  • We are fighting in court to protect the unique Carter herd.
  • After fighting the bid by livestock to have a mass removal of wild horses at Stone Cabin and Saulsbury (that was defeated and winning that there was an illegal delay in creating management plans at Saulsbury) we are stepping up to the Appeals court for accountability to protect the herd and habitat.
  • We have begun the legal battle to protect the Tassi-Gold burros.
  • We are fighting a mine that threatens to take over 30% of the Triple B HMA without any mitigation for the loss of the most vital habitat.
  • After winning a landmark victory at the Pancake Complex and stopping the roundup plan with a court order that recognized BLM illegally delayed creating real management planning, we have filed a new lawsuit to hold them accountable.
… and so much more.
Our team has documented every roundup in 2025. Not only do we document, we advocate. We were able to get wound treatment when the agency failed to contract for it. WHE litigates abuse. We are the only organization to take BLM to court over abuse at roundups. Our litigation continues to drive the frontline toward gaining, once and for all, enforceable welfare rules with real consequence. In 2025, we filed a new lawsuit that is winning.
Together, we are strong. Together, we will not back down.

Even sales in our Zazzle store (where Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals run 20%-50% off!), new tier members on our Patreon page to donations made through the mail or on our website, will be matched dollar-for-dollar! The match challenge will end at midnight, December 3rd.

Most fundraising for Giving Tuesday occurs through social media. Our Facebook page was recently targeted in a hack intended to stop us from reaching a larger audience. We had to start from scratch on a new page and are building back strong. There will be no fundraising this year through Facebook by WHE. We will only be linking back to our website from Facebook.
