May 1, Big Day of Giving

Big Day of Giving is a day designed to bring much needed support to worthy causes at a time of year when many nonprofits are in need of a boost.

A generous donor has offered us a match challenge. Our goal is to raise $10,000. by the end of the Big Day of Giving, May 1. Every contribution will be matched dollar-for-dollar!

These funds will give our team the much needed boost we need to move our work forward.

Right now your contribution will help us:

Take the Stone Cabin/Saulsbury lawsuit to conclusion. For the last two years we have stood up for our wild ones to gain science-based management for these herds as the livestock permittee took BLM to court to force a mass removal (this case lost in district court but the permittee has now taken BLM to the Ninth Circuit to push for another removal as federal agencies expand their grazing permits).  Our distinct lawsuit stands strong as we push for accountability to planning documents where BLM stated they would gather sorely needed data and do range improvements for wild horses. Instead, BLM simply created an agreement with the permittee on how many horses should be out there, approved range improvements to expand livestock into the HMA and created yet another removal plan. BLM cannot simply continue to remove wild horses and then give more and more of the range away to private profiteers and then simply create new word game and never be held to account. Our suit is heading for hearing and final judgement in the next 60 days, we need your support.

Some of the other cases we have in the courts: Exposing abuse and holding BLM accountable to creating an enforceable welfare policy. At Antelope and Triple B, our litigation is moving forward to stop the largest roundup plan in the nation that will target nearly 20,000 wild horses for removal during the lifetime of the plan without ever providing any data to stand on. We set desperately needed precedent that demonstrates that removal plans are not management plans with two court wins last year. Now we fighting back to stop BLM from doing the only thing they seem to understand, remove to suit private profits. We have just filed in court to continue the Pancake case to the next level. We also have taken burro centric legal action at Three Rivers. Have cases to protect habitat and are expanding litigation to protect more herds.

Rapid and in-depth reporting from roundups is something many of you rely on WHE to provide. Our teams not only expose what is wrong, but we are fighting back to stop abuse directly through our ongoing work in the courts and with lawmakers to gain concise and enforceable welfare rules.

Our deep investigative work that continues to expose corruption and deception in the BLM program. Our recently released article exposes the true death toll and abuse in holding facilities (that we are also fighting in the courts). From basic care to record keeping, BLM fails miserably.

The fight to keep wild horse and burro families together begins with the fight to keep them free; living in  wild homes where their ancestors have lived for generations providing us with their grace, beauty and the spirit of resilience.

You can help in the fight against abuse. You can click HERE to learn how to give comments at the National Hearing on the use of Motorized Vehicles at roundups.

All of our work is only possible because of your support.

WHE has been offered a $10,000. match challenge that spans from now, through Earth Day and ends on May 1, the “Big Day of Giving.” Every contribution will be matched dollar-for-dollar.

With sincere gratitude for keeping WHE in the fight to protect and preserve our amazing wild ones!
