Our team works very hard. WHE has the largest bank of roundup documentation in the world. We have used the documentation to raise public awareness and in outreach with lawmakers. However, the work did not stop there. Our roundup documentation was used in landmark litigation that drove the creation of the Comprehensive Animal Welfare Program (CAWP) BLM uses today. BLM failed to take the internal handling standards in CAWP through the last official step to turn them into enforceable welfare rules.

Right now, our team carries active litigation to address the dire need for enforceability. Instead of creating a program that enforces, BLM created a program they use that simply endorses historic practices, inconsistencies and an utter failures to put in place practices that could stop preventable injury and death. They have also ignored outcry from the public that includes BLMs failure to adopt accepted equine veterinary safety practices, a requirement of current law.

It has always seemed absurd that we have had to take the extreme measure of litigation to obtain any movement from BLM to simply protect the health and welfare of wild horses and burros. BLM asked for patience as they worked through a beta version of the standards and what enforcement might entail. Over the last eight years BLM has simply failed to move this program in any effective direction. So, we are back in the courtroom.

Your purchase of a shirt will go directly into supporting our field teams as they continue to document and utilize that documentation back in the courtroom.

If BLM cannot simply take initiative to prevent injury and death, how can we ever trust the system to manage them safely for futire generations. The battle falls on the public.

Thank you for keeping WHE on the frontline in the battle to protect our wild ones from abuse on the range, during capture and in holding facilities.
