Little Fish Lake 2015 (Day 2)

Little Fish Lake Day 2, pilot juggling many bands

Little Fish Lake Day 2, pilot juggling many bands

Day 2 of the Little Fish Lake operation saw 85 wild horses trapped. The total so far is 116. 100 of the horses will ship to Ridgecrest. The plan is to release 50 back to the range. BLM says that will leave the post operation population at about 100 wild horses. This area is surrounded by Forest Service (FS) land and Wild Horse Territories (WHT) and is managed primarily by FS.

Today was windy. Multiple bands were pushed into large groups and driven to the trap. We saw difficulty handling these large groups as they needed to travel through gaps in fencing. Many bands fractured and never made the trap. This group saw many escape capture.

We will post a full video/photo wrap up as soon as time allows.

Edited to add: LFL was authorized to remove additional horses (40 is the estimate and will confirm later). The number removed will be deducted from the total of the cap on winter removals and numbers will decrease elsewhere.
