BLM Roundup Schedule (Changing)

Just a note to fellow advocates watching the roundup schedule, it is changing.

BLM has not published an official roundup schedule since May 15. (See here)

It is not unusual for the schedule to change. But we expect some fast changes in dates and herds targeted before BLM even publishes an update.

Moriah, originally scheduled to begin the 27th, now begins on the 20th. The last few roundups BLM has called “Moriah” have actually been just outside the Antelope Complex and not near the actual boundary of Moriah. It looks like BLM is going in to take all horses “in and outside” the Herd Area. These horses will be going into the off-limits to the public facility in Winnemucca, NV. So if you were planning on going, change your plans or it will be over before you get there.

BLM finished Saylor Creek in Idaho much faster than they allotted for.

We expect the Callaghan Complex (South Shoshone) roundup to end nearly a month ahead of schedule.

All of this could push both the Colorado and Utah roundups to an earlier start date.

In addition, it opens up the schedule for BLM to add additional herds.

If you are thinking about observing a roundup for yourself, be aware that the schedule can change fast (and often does).

We just wanted to alert you.

We need your support to keep our teams engaging lawmakers, our team fighting in the court, our team ready to run the roundup schedule.

Every mile we travel to cover roundups or assess a herd, every court case we bring, every win, every action we take is only possible because of your support.
