North Lander Holding 7/13 (for an advocate)

An advocate that has gone out to see wild horses at the Muskrat HMA could not stay to go to holding today. We told her that we would video tape and get it on the site.

We could not see which horses were captured at the trap today, we were really far away. Coordinates suggest over 1.7 miles away.

Capture operations ended at 10:38 (after meeting BLM at 4:15). We do not go right to temporary. BLM put temporary holding on private property and (we are told) that he will only allow us to walk around a few hours after sorting is done, for a rapid “keep moving” that BLM said they had to “negotiate” as he did not want us there at all. The “tour” did not begin until nearly 4 p.m. and the sky had gone a bit dark.

So these three videos are simply here for an advocate that could not stay.

Our regular updates will be uploaded shortly from both North Lander in Wyoming and Blue Wing in NV.

Above: We had to wait a bit for the wind to die down.

Above: Mare pens. Our observer simply kept the camera running. She is walking because you have to “keep moving” or get scolded.

Above: Stud pens. We know it is dark and moving. But you should be able to scroll or stop the video to look for a horse.

If you watched both videos above, know that observers that go to roundups will wait hours, after sitting at traps that they have struggled at all day to try to see something meaningful, in the heat or cold, just to check on horses in holding.

We hope this helps the other advocate find her wild ones before she heads back to trap tomorrow. We hope these videos help you understand a bit of the challenges faced by those documenting so the public can get a glimpse of how their tax money is being spent.

Our regular update will be out soon.

We have a lot of work to get done tonight editing roundup footage and paperwork.

We will finish the action item for the Pancake Scoping comments tonight. We just finished our comments.

The HMAP scoping is a result of groundbreaking litigation by WHE where the courts recognize removal plans and management plans are not the same thing. The court also invalidated BLMs gather-EA.

Scoping is NOT commenting on an already drafted plan. Scoping is telling BLM what is missing, significant and needs to be analyzed or disclosed.

We know many of you are confused because another org put out comments as if they were commenting on an already drafted plan. They are simply ill-informed.,, but have a big mailing list and we are getting a lot of emails. We saw your emails asking questions and will answer them all tomorrow,

Our alert will be out tomorrow.

Onward.
