Operation SHELDON, new home

Operation SHELDON, a project to preserve the Legacy of America’s “War Horses” of the Sheldon National Wildlife Refuge, run by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), has a new home on the web. The website is in it’s infancy but already contains significant information about the Sheldon horses.  Visit the site by going to this link http://sheldonhorses.wordpress.com/ or by clicking the image below.

Operation Sheldon has begun with a second legal action brought against Sheldon for not protecting our American Historical Treasure from slaughter. This suit addresses first amendment violations and ongoing conduct by Sheldon NWR that lands horses into the hands of contractors that fail to provide humane care and protection from the kill pen. Sheldon NWR has a notorious past of hiding their actions and a failure to protect horses as they plan to remove all of the horses from the Refuge by next fall!

Is this the way the Legacy of America’s War Horse will end?

Sheldon has alternatives that they fail to explore while they stand on the verge of shipping more than 250 horses, at a cost of over $293,000, to a contractor that has not protected horses for three years!

JOIN Operation SHELDON! We need you to help us spread public awareness, engage in letter writing campaigns and support our effort to protect the horses Congress forgot! Congress failed to afford these horses protections under the Wild Free Roaming Horse and Burro Act, even if the intention was to protect all our horses from slaughter. (We believe that those that sponsored this Act intended protection for all horses). Even though a herd of Long-horned cattle is preserved at a USFWS Refuge in Witchita, Sheldon still sees America’s war horse as a pest to be removed. The very least we as a nation can do for these horses is afford them any safeguard possible from an horrific end at the slaughterhouse.
